(Estúpida. But I'm not sure you pronounce it like it's spelled. Which was kind of the point this week -- if such a thing can be said to exist.)
Like a pair of twins communicating telepathically, the CW Web site is trying to kill me. They haven't posted pictures from the most recent ANTM episode or videos of the commercials, and it's been five days since the little bastard aired! What are they doing over there? Tyra, I'm telling you right now: I am not going to record this damn show onto DVD. If you don't want to see more generic art like this map of Spain, go holler at the CW Webmasters.
Short synopsis: It's acting time! The critters take an acting workshop where they "let it all out" (read: give Tyra plenty of insight into where their buttons are) and do a stupid acting challenge. (CariDee wins, which is awesome, but all she wins is a one-day role on One Tree Hill, a show I was not aware existed.)
Then they fly to Barcelona, where they are given the stupidest challenge ever. The critters have to say a script in Catalan, a particularly tricky dialect of Spanish, and then kiss a Spanish male model. Now, you wouldn't think that last part would be tricky, but the dude Jaeda is paired with says he doesn't like black girls. Dick. He doesn't even seem to realize that this is not a remotely cool thing to say; I guess racism is more casual in some pockets of Europe. How do you say "bastard" in Catalan? Malparadito.
So Jaeda has a minor (and totally understandable) freakout, while Melrose crams for the commercial like the overachiever she is. Just about everybody kinda lurches through their commercial as best they can, given that they can't pronounce the words on the cue cards. Everyone except my darling CariDee, who hits the wall, and it ain't pretty. She loses her concentration, she curses on camera, she behaves like Liza Minelli after happy hour, and she almost gets cut.
But fortunately, Tyra "forgives" CariDee for failing once. "I'm just not sure you can do a commercial," she tells CariDee sadly. "In Catalan?!" I yell from the sofa. It was Jaeda's time to go anyway. Now she can let her hair grow back and we won't have to hear about it.
